Reviews

Evan as an adult I enjoy this graphic novel. I had previously read the book and was surprised how fun the graphic novel was. The story comes alive during the pictures and it lets younger readers enjoy this fun mystery. I recommend the reader take the time to decipher the codes and clues and try to solve the mystery along with the characters. While he was not the nicest character, I enjoyed Charles Chiltington. I would love to visit this library!

A fun and quirky read! While the original novel is a fan favorite among my students from their elementary years, this was a new read for me. Chris Grabenstein and Douglas Holgate really brought Mr. Lemoncello and his amazing library to life with this easily accessible and visually appealing read! There seemed to be a character for every kid to relate to, and as an adult I really enjoyed all of the book references scattered throughout the plot and Mr. Lemoncello’s dialogue. The puzzles and games the characters play appeal to today’s students, and as a reader, you feel like you are along for the adventure with Kyle and the rest of the cast of characters. This is a graphic novel experience not to be missed!

This graphic novel was a fun and enjoyable read. For a graphic novel, it also offered a lot of content, and I came across a few words that I had to look up their meaning! It was fast-paced and kept you on the edge of your seat to see how the characters escaped Mr. Lemoncello’s Library. The clues were fun to try and decipher. I especially liked the colorful illustrations, which added to the excitement of the story. If you’re a middle schooler (6-8th grade) you would enjoy the storyline and high quality and engaging graphics.
