The book Pony by RJ Palacio is quite the wild ride! A story of family, friendship, and connection, it is also an adventure story that takes Silas and the reader on a journey of discovery. I thoroughly enjoyed the development of Silas’ character from a small, fragile boy to a young man who has not only grown to be braver and more independent, but who has also made peace with his past and the eccentricities that make him who he is. Silas meets many interesting characters along his journey, but the one friend that always remains by his side is Mittenwool. Who this character is and what he represents will keep the reader guessing and eager to turn to the next page of Silas’ adventure. A story of simpler times, memories, and the importance of the ties that bind us, RJ Palacio takes readers on a journey of twists and turns that stay with us long after we’ve closed the book.
