Super Friends! (Simon and Chester Book #4) is a well-crafted graphic novel. All elementary students will enjoy the characters. Teachers can use the book to help children understand how an author develops a theme through the conflicts of its characters. The book uses fun illustrations and dialogue to show the close friendship between Simon, a ghost, and Chester, a boy. When Amie (whose dad is a ghostbuster) joins the story to work on a science project with Chester, Simon and Chester deal with jealousy, secrets, and loyalty – issues children will relate to. The book ends with the reader wondering what will happen next. This encourages our reluctant readers to get hooked on the series and to read more.
