Kid Olympians: Summer: True Tales of Childhood from Champions and Game Changers (Kid Legends)
Reviews
Kid Olympians by Robin Stevenson is a great book for kids to learn about their favorite athletes in an easy and fun way. This author does a really good job at making a nonfiction book enjoyable for kids. While reading this book you’re able to see the reasons athletes decided on the sport they wanted to play, and the challenges they faced along the way. Kids will get a new perspective on pro athletes and realize not all of them have it so easy. The illustrations in this book really help picture what actually happened and really add to the story.
Throughout this whole book I was able to connect with Megan Rapinoe’s part of the book, because I’m currently playing soccer and hope to go pro. I can relate to her as well because I have always looked up to my older cousin because he was a model for me. That relates to Megan’s relationship with her older brother. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in playing sports or currently playing sports. Kids looking into playing new sports will find this book useful for them if they want to pursue a future career. There are a variety of different athletes and sports throughout the book, and reading this book will help them find the sport they are interested in.

My favorite part was about Usain Bolt because when I am older I want to be really fast and I wanted to know how he did it. I liked how hard he tried. Kids who like sports would enjoy this book because it shows professional olympic players when they were young. The illustrations were cool-they were blue, green, and yellow mostly. The book made me feel great that I am reading about people who were professionals-very inspiring! The author’s message was never giving up on your dreams.

Kid Olympians is an awesome book. It is a nonfiction that talks about all ordinary kids who made it to the Olympics. It includes the sad part of the stories too. Some people were training for the Olympics while they were going through hard times, like being poor. People were dealing with racism. The book tells you about kids who had a dream and made it happen. Usain Bolt, who used to skip practices to go to the arcade, is now an Olympic runner. Serena Williams hit the tennis ball out of the court on purpose and is now an Olympic tennis player.

What I like about the book Kid Olympians Summer Edition is all the cool stories of olympians as kids. I especially love Serena Williams’ story. She’s my idol and she’s an icon. I rate this 5 out of 5 stars. It’s amazing! I also enjoyed the story of Megan Rapinoe. She’s an icon in soccer!
