Reviews

This is an excellent book with a spooky adventure. People who like fantasy books may also take an interest in this. The Otherwood may also be enjoyed as the main character (River) goes on to face his fear just to save his friend (and crush) Avery. River is very brave to go and save her even when there are monsters trying to stop River. So no matter how scarce we are, we can learn from River that nothing can stop us from saving someone. I also like Avery as she is very kind to River and she is why River faces their fear. Avery also aspect River for who they are. She stood up for River when no one else did. Even when she was one of the popular kids, she never tried to bully River but helped them instill. Avery was a very kind character. I also like this book as it helps you believe in yourself. Even when River was scared, they still went out of their way to save Avery. At first, he didn’t believe they could do it, but they did it anyway. It was also very heartwarming as this book shows how far we’ll go for the people we care about. I think my favorite part was in chapter 12 when River and Xavier (a spirit) met. It was pretty funny as Xavier wasn’t as scary as the other spirit. I also like the story Xavier told as he wasn’t sad about it and looked on the bright side. I enjoyed reading this book and all the spooky adventures that come with it.

This book made me laugh. My favorite is when Avery gets kidnapped by the monsters. Mr. Fluffy Pancakes is my favorite character because he is so cute and brave. I think other kids should read this book because it’s really funny. I think people that love mystery, fantasy, adventure, and action would love this book. Children of all ages would like this book.
