Review of The Twelve by Cindy Lin
You should read this book if you’re in the mood for: Magic, Action, Fantasy
What did you like about this book?
I liked how this book had a lot of mystery in the attacks of the Dragonlord and his Strikers. I also liked how many characters had powers of the Chinese Zodiac.
Who were the main character(s)? Which one(s) were your favorite? Why?
Usagi was the main character. I liked her because she was a very powerful person and was very dedicated to saving her friend and sister who were trapped in the Dragonlord’s fortress.
Other kids should read this book because…
This book is educational with the information it gives about the Chinese Zodiac.
This book reminds me of Rick Riordan’s mythology series’ because of all the mythology connections it has.
Your thoughts on the book:
What is your favorite animal? Would you love to have some of the powers that that animal has? In The Twelve, some people have the powers of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac legend. This book has great detail in the way that the characters use their powers to attempt to stop the evil Dragonlord and his soldiers, the Strikers. This book will suck you in as you watch Usagi hone her rabbit skills, which are powerful hearing and leaping, to get strong enough to help free her sister and her best friend from the Dragonlord’s clutches.
I recommend this book for kids in these grades:
6th, 7th, 8th
